They took over the town and ran Nicole out of town along with several others. There's one question in her mind, and it's the question she wants to ask the killers--Why? But she asked one question too many and now the gang is ready to kill her on sight. A surprisingly satisfying and compelling novel from an exciting new author with blockbuster potential.
It's definitely worth the 4 stars (I'd only give 5 stars to a few classics.) This book is really hard to put down and when you finish it, you'll be glad you decided to read it.
This has to be the most unique western I have ever read. I would describe it as a very realistic, western fantasy (if there is such a genre.) The hero is actually a young lady who poses as a man as she tracks down members of an outlaw gang who killed her parents while she was still a child. She's puts on a very convincing act as a tough gunslinger until her warm heart and feminine features finally give her away -- almost a bit too early.
There's plenty of suspenseful action in this novel that gradually builds to an exciting and fulfilling climax. The plot is compelling, characters are convincing, scenes are realistic, and the action is graphic. All in all, it's a great way to spend the weekend.
I understand the author has another book in the "Nicole Steele" series coming out soon -- I can't wait to read it.

Reckoning of the Dead is the compelling novel--shocking in places--of a young woman's determation to rescue her brother while she must struggle with her desire for revenge. The action is strong, the characters seem real. The gunfights were awesome. A must read!
