Will Nazi bombers soon circle the beloved city of Warsaw? It's May 1939. Aaron Lubetkin, esteemed rabbi of Muranow, is released from a Warsaw prison. But he and his family-beautiful Etta, daughter Rachel, and sons David, Samuel, and baby Yacov-remain targets of Hitler's sinister plot. In the free city of Danzig, Lucy Strasburg flees in terror from SS officer Wolf von Fritschauer. If he finds her, the consequences for Lucy and her newborn will be dire. Yet each day the web around her tightens. Imprisoned pastor Karl Ibsen refuses to compromise, to bend to the Nazi will

Opening in 1936, the Zion Covenant series tells the courageous and compelling stories of those who risk everything to stand against the growing tide of Nazi terrorism that is sweeping through central Europe under the dangerous and deceitful guise of Hitler's Third Reich. A new study guide is included in each book.

The 5-star rating is for the story. The entire series is a powerful telling of the stories of the Jews and Zionists during early WWII. however, the Kindle version is a mess - lots of typos, repeated sections, etc. Very distracting. I've read the entire series. #6 definitely has the most errors. I always prefer a real book, but I'm traveling, thus only kindle is practical now.
I love this whole series but I have never read an E-book with more typographical errors than this one contained. They were so bad that the meaning of entire sentences was completely skewed. Almost every paragraph had an error in it. It was like someone scanned it in with a an old OCR device and didn't bother to edit it for errors. REALLY BAD! I was hesitant to get the next book in the series (London Refrain) but I have now finished about 70% of it and have only noticed a couple of errors, which are no big deal.
Please don't get me wrong, this author gets a rating of 10 as far as the stories and her writing goes. BUT I am frustrated with the errors in the kindle version of these wonderful books. It's not just the typo's of which there are more than a few, but phrases are repeated as well, making me wonder if I'm losing my place. It does not stop me from getting more, just makes me have to interrupt to make sure of what I'm reading. As I said, frustrating.
I've read 23 of her books and love each and every one of them.
This book centers around the period leading up to the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany and, like the other books in the series, it is a great read! Very gripping, and action packed. Without spoiling the story, I will say that I appreciated how the authors went into more depth with certain characters. Also, the messages of love and sacrifice really resonated with me. Another great read!
I love the Thoene books. I love the history, the characters, the plots using historical figures. I have three of their series and will purchase the next one (Chronicles Series)
As we can expect from these wonderful writers, this is again a beautiful story, so captivating that you have the feeling of actually living through the circumstances yourselves, together with the characters. One thing though, this book has horrible editing, so many grammar mistakes, text repeated, and so on. Hope this gets corrected.
The book is great as is all of Bodie Thoene's books but if you get the Kindle version be prepared for typos almost on every page. Someone did a very poor job of transferring this from paper to digital.
I love Bodie Thoene. This husband/wife team are tremendously talented and their detail to historical facts makes the read even more exciting. The story is as great as the others in the series, but the MANY spelling mistakes can be distracting at times. Whoever is inputting these books needs to proof their work better. The spelling may be disruptive, but the content is amazing.I love the way the different characters appear in the book. It's like reading more than one book as you follow different characters in different places. Then they get tied together as you read through the book. I know these characters carry through the whole series so I am anxious to hear how they end up. It has been an excellent read through this series, however, the next book in line is the London Refrain which is not available as an e-read at this time. The rest of the series is here, but this one is missing(a great disappointment to have a break like this in the series).
