Also by gaelen foley. Praise for gaelen foley. To my dearest Eric, for your steadfast love and faith in me, and for making me laugh every day.

Also by gaelen foley. I would also like to give a special thank you to some very generous people who helped to make this book possible. Argy Darakos, for giving me an insider’s view of Greek life and culture. FAM Josh Caldwell, for helping me understand more about how a real warrior thinks and fights.

Moss having returned to her cottage for the night e simmering cauldron of stew. Make yourself comfortable, he said with a gesture toward the table. You’ll serve? she echoed in surprise. He sent her a quick smile over his shoulder. I invited you in as my guest, Sophia, not as my servant. Besides, you should keep the weight off that ankle for a while.

Her Every Pleasure book. As with any Gaelen Foley book, there's politics too. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great historical romance, and not looking for a quick read, another reason I rated this 5 is I plan to read it again someday.

Gaelen Foley - the complete book list. Gaelen Foley is a native of Pennsylvania and a New York Times bestselling author of historical romances. Her bold novels are set during Regency era England as well as during the Napoleonic Wars. It was during her studies at University of New York, College at Fredonia that Foley fell in love with the Regency period while she was studying the Romantic poets for her degree in English literature. After college, she decided to become a writer and works five and half years as a waitress to keep her days free for writing.

From the glittering ballrooms of Regency England to the sapphire waters of the Mediterranean, the dazzling finale of Gaelen Foley’s Spice trilogy unfurls the passionate tale of a rebel princess and the powerful warrior destined to become her champion.Princess Sophia was only a child when Napoleon conquered the island paradise ruled by her father. Raised in England and now twenty-one, she means to claim the throne that is rightfully hers and bring peace to her war-torn land. But an ambush by enemies forces Sophia into hiding outside London. Disguising herself as a peasant girl until she can safely return, she meets Major Gabriel Knight, a wounded warrior whose brush with death has utterly changed him. Heir to a great fortune, and a master swordsman, Gabriel has given up his worldly possessions and laid down his arms. Sophia is fascinated by his brooding magnetism, and Gabriel, lured by her fiery beauty and healed by her touch, is drawn back inexorably toward the world of the living. But when Sophia’s royal destiny is revealed, Gabriel knows he must take up his sword again, whatever the cost, to protect his princess from those who would destroy her. And as longing blossoms into passion, Gabriel discovers the one cause that is truly worth fighting for. . . .

The opening of this novel is fast paced and introduces a feisty heroine and an arresting hero. The plot is well paced and the reader does not have to put up with silly contrivances to move the plot along. Foley writes well and the storyline remains engaging throughout most of the novel. Some parts of the plot are too familiar; however, the story is enjoyable. The political intrigue is not too dense that readers cannot understand it. Its relevance to the plot is handled deftly so that it works with the dynamic relationship between the characters and does not overshadow it. Members of the Knight family are present since the hero is part of the family, but the author understands that this is not about them. Therefore, when they appear they are not intrusive.

If there is one unsatisfying element to this novel, it is the heroine. Royal or not, Sophia is often obnoxious and hot headed. Her rashness makes it obvious throughout the novel that she truly is not fit to rule on her own and that she needs the guidance of the hero, Gabriel. Although she does have redeeming moments and the reader sometimes understands her motivations, her character is not balanced with that of the hero because she is sometimes too overbearing. The hero ends up being more interesting and likable than the heroine. He is grounded and intelligent just as a hero should be. His heroic feats are not over the top and Foley makes him a man worth of any queen.

The passion in their relationship is finely drawn. There is no mistaking the love that they have for each other. Their pain at parting is palpable and Gabriel’s devotion to Sophia and her insistence that she be with him despite their disparate stations creates many touching scenes within the novel.

An interesting, although an unoriginal plot, and a likable hero who does not bore the reader with worn out dark brooding make this a worthy read. Whatever gripes there are about the heroine at some moments during the story, they are not to enough to take away from this satisfying read.

I have read the 7 book series of the Knight family and am sorry to see the end of these characters as the stories were well written and once starting the books unable to stop until finished. I recommend these books highly for their fast paced thrilling story line. I could wish Ms. Foley would reconsider and continue the Knight family by writing the heros and heroines grown up children. Hopefully she may reconsider.

Big fan of Gaelen Foley, and enjoyed this book as much as the rest. The story dragged a bit in the middle, but the characters were compelling, and the plot moved along at a good pace. Classic historical romance, if that's what you're looking for.

I started this. Look this afternoon, and I only put it down to have a meal, some author's talents vary, FOLEY 'S do not! The first book I read of here's was Lord of Fire, I have read more than I can remember, always to my great joy! Thanks very much!

In my opinion, this is the best in the Spice Trilogy series. It was a high adventure, fast paced love story, with a great hero and heroine. You'll need to suspend your disbelief with parts of the core story, (i.e. a Princess who acts like a princess but was not really raised as one), but once you do the story really is fun and entertaining.

The Spice series stars the three cousin's of the sexy alpha males (and a few great heroines) from her Knight Series.

I enjoy the great writing and descriptions in her stories. I always learn new things about the era and new vocabulary. I am a bit confused still about some of the family and characters so I need to find a family lineage tree in one of her books. Lots of twists and turns and the story and characters were well developed.
