The Clydesdale Motor Truck Company was a motor company that existed from 1917 to 1939 with headquarters in Clyde, Ohio. Military contracts continued to be a large part of their business after the war, but they also sold into many other markets: general haulage, farming, and specialized vehicles such as fire trucks. They survived the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and the Great Depression, but increasingly struggling, they were wound up in 1939.

This is one of the worst books I have ever read. It is poorly written. Scenes, especially the sex scenes, are repeated and become monotinous very quickly.

There is little to no character development. Most character are just names with little or no physical description and no emotional connection at all. Horrendous events take place in this novel and you should be concerned for the character's safety and well being, but how can you be? They are one dimensional, pale, lifeless stock characters.

I bought all 5 Clydesdale books based on the recommendation of a friend. And saw that there were 2 good recommendations on here also. I understand we all have different likes and dislikes but in my opinion this book was a total waste of time and money. Everything fizzled. No real grab your attention plot. Just a bare framework to set up sex scenes that leave you hanging. They lack passion, feeling, emotion, raw sensuality, or animalistic lust. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Since I have already purchased the other books I will read them and hope for improvment, but am really not expecting it.

Man oh man there was a story in between all the erotic encounters that I read back in October 2009 in this paperback. It took place in Virginia no less and involved ordinary blue collar men with some big parts. Right wing born again Christian extremists bombing abortion clinics, gay newspapers, Jewish temples in Richmond. Ex-cop /security firm / firemen /police / family / friends / lovers / preachers / just fun times / considerate / construction company / community relations

I truly enjoyed reading this book and find Clydesdale Noland to be one of those original characters you'll happily follow through a series of books. And to his credit, Bob Archman has done exactly that. This is the first in the series and it's worth beginning here before undertaking the rest.

Clydesdale is short and swarthy, but well-equipped and willing to do what it takes to get his information. After being drummed out of the Richmond, VA police force because he's gay, he sets up his own security firm and stumbles upon a conspiracy to -- well, telling you anything more would spoil the fun of the story. Let's just say it involves terrorist bombings and closet cases and politicians and all of the above at one time, and Clydesdale casually proves heroes come in all sizes and sexualities.

But this book is definitely a fun romp with some joyous sexual encounters (and some not so joyous) and I think it's better written than the Donald Strachey series of gay detective novels. So I guess I have my summer reading all prepared. Why not join me?

Man...don't mess with Clyde -- meaning Clydesdale Nolan. He'll mess you up and make you love him all over the place. This is more than just an erotic read -- though there's plenty of sex in it; this is a story about a couple of guys coming together and about some gay men saving a HELL of a lot of people's lives, even though some of those people look down on them as second class citizens. It's a fun, fast, sexy read that'll make you want to read more about Clydesdale and his selection of...crime-fighting tools. You go, Clyde!
