Ken Harmon was born and brought up in Dublin where he still lives. He trained as an actor and started mounting his own one-man plays until he realised they were better done by other people. His one-man play Wideboy Gospel was the inaugural production at Project Arts in Dublin in August 2000 and won that year's Steward Parker Award. The Decline of Breakdancing was staged in Dublin in autumn 2001. Done Up Like a Kipper is his first play for the Abbey Theatre.
