Excellent novel... one of my favorite Trollope works. Has a light-hearted feel that his work doesn't always necessarily have.

Trollope the Angel...what else can one say about someone who is so fluent, creative and inspired? This book, judging from the number of pages, appears to be lengthy but it flows so smoothly that it can be read in a few days. The mystery around Ayala's angel is intriguing and her growth as the story unfolds is like a magical transformation from a young romantic child to a woman who discovers her capacity for love. Could not put this book down once I started it.

I have worked my way through Anthony Trollope's work and had never heard of this one. I enjoyed reading it but I wouldn't call this my favorite book. I liked his sense of humor in this book but it felt a little like a slap stick comedy than his usual study of everyday life.

Less famous yet fully delightful.
And I thought I'd run through the pleasures of Trollope! Wit, insight and sympathy, a lively world and a humane worldview.

Very engrossing novel, though somewhat frustrating for modern readers as the societal mores of the time, which form the pivot of the novel, can seem rather silly. Trollope does a remarkable job of portraying a handful of characters. What a great writer he is!!

It is totally enjoyable! A well-written romance times 5, in addition to some of Trollope's worldly wit and wisdom. The 19th Century environment is often surprising in it rules and conventions. And certainly don't understand what makes Jonathan Stubbs such a strange name. But do read it and have a good time!

Trollope up to his usual keen insights into human nature at its neurotic best.
Another superbly written Trollope novel alive with a variety of interesting characters and intriguing situations. I LOVED it.
