Unexpected situations can be amazing if you allow yourself to believe.

A Naval pilot, a one night stand and years later a second chance, can they make it work this time? Pharmacological student, Ayanna Barker, was working hard to give her and her son a good life. A USA Today Bestselling author, Aliyah Burke is an avid reader and is never far from pen and paper (or the computer). She is married to a career military man, they have a German Shepherd, two Borzoi, and a DSH cat. Her days are spent sharing her time between work, writing, and dog training/showing.

What happens when a 21st Century woman gets transported back to 12th Century England? She butts heads with her 'rescuer'. That's what. When Kit wakes in the past she has no choice but to go with the knight that stands before. The sword at her throat determines that. With absolutely no idea on how to return home, Kit will be called upon to use every bit of strength and love to stay alive long enough to do so. Even with Marcus' help it might not be possible. Will these two lovers find a way to be together for all time? Can Kit trust that once made, it will never be broken? Perhaps. It is after all, A KNIGHT'S VOW.

Aliyah Burke always bring it. I was kind of shocked of how well her writing transitioned into time traveling/ fantasy romance with a interracial love interest. It's rare to see a BW in a fantasy/historical romance with out being a slave/bed servant. I truly liked how Mrs. Burke built a friendship between Katrina and Marcus. And let there love bloomed for each other. That they didn't jumped into bed with each other immediately. Though Aliyah Burke never disappoints. I just wish the epilogue was longer.

This is the story of a biracial(black/white) Kit a woman who gets diplaced or time traveled back in time to the 1100's and has to use her knowledge and strong will to get her through this strange situation as she adapts to her time displacement. Kit is a woman of her time who is strong willed, independent and outspoken (who also happens to know capoiera -hope I spelled that right - martial arts) whoo hoo I love to read about women who can kick butt. She meets Marcus who is definitely a man of his time. A true Alpha hero.

There are many twist and plots to this story. Of course a battle of wills between our heroine and hero, but they learn to respect each other for being exactly who they are. Which had sparks flying between these two characters which led to some steamy love scenes. Great character building, and great chemistry between Kit and Marcus.

Kit treated everyone back then with genuine respect, which was not done so much back then, so the servants liked and accepted her and others grew to respect her strengths. In the 1100's anyone who was poor could be made into a slave not just a black person. Not sure about all of my history but I thought slavery of blacks did not start until much later on.

But all in all this a great fantasy/fiction book which in my humble opinion was really well researched and written. Loved the ending as I am a romantic. Read it for what it is, a great romantic novel. You would not be disappointed. So, if you would like to read a different type of interracial romance novel, this is for you.

I read this book again today Oct. 13/11 and again I say it is truly a poignantly beautiful and hauntingly well written love story 'from this time until the next' which goes to show that love truly is forever when you find your soulmate no matter what timeline you are in. (I know from experience since my relationship was interracial and my husband has been dead 21 years and I still miss him immensely.) So this book holds a special place in my heart. Thank you Aliyah Burke. And my advice, if you get a hold of this book hold on to it.

Again I read this book recently Dec. 2012 and had to add that yes there are typos and missing or missed spelled words, but got past all of that because the story was so interesting and you do get caught up in this endearing tale. I kept getted teared up with these words . 'From this life to the next'. To me one of Ms. Burkes best books. Also, I believe this was her first book, not sure.
To which I reiterate - A DEFINITE KEEPER.

Ok this would be great as a movie. And yes if it was with a big publisher would have been an absolutely awesome book.

Can we (some of us IR readers) get together and start producing some of these IR books. Would love to see that. :-)

I am a huge fan of Ms. Burke and I can honestly say that I enjoy 97% of the books I read by her. She is thorough, the stories are well fleshed out and well told. They are at times, funny, most certainly sexy and they often tie you in knots because you don't want to put them down. Although I didn't like the price of the ebook, my quirk is that I don't want to pay over$3.99 for an ebook; I bought it anyway because of her quality of work.

Give it a try along with many of her other tales....just because she is an awesome story-teller!

The concept of this book about two people who must brave time in order to find true love is extremely well done. I like the fact that this is an interracial novel where, FOR ONCE, we don't have the author going on and on about whether the two of them should be together because they are different colors.

Rather, this is a romance about how these 2 people intrigue each other, and how well they match each other in spirit and ambition.

The sex scenes are perfectly written. They are descriptive and intense without being overly graphic.

However, I agree with some of the critics that this book could have used a better editor. There are several mistakes and font errors that can be a bit distracting. However, it is clear that this book was published by a small publishing house and that it is a first attempt.

I would also have liked the author to do more research into the period in order to make some of the other characters in Marcus's time more realistic.

Hopefully, the editing and research will catch up to this author's raw talent.

I am really looking forward to reading more from Ms. Burke.

Read this book, if you have some time to spare.

Kit, a 21st Century woman gets transported back to the 12th Century, in England where she finds her true love. What is she to do, she knows she loves Marcus with a totalness that she will never have with anyone else, but she cannot stay and how does she get back home?

In the meantime, Marcus finds the woman breath-taking, he knows he will love her like no other, but what is he to do when the time comes for her to return to her time?

The story requires that you suspend your belief and glosses over a lot of "time travel conundrum" problems; and yes, the editing needed SERIOUS work. Okay, that was the bad news.

The good news is this: the heroine was likeable, as was the hero and the story did engage.

But if you are into IR romances, BW/WM, then this is not necessarily the one you want to start with, but if it falls into your lap, give it a read.

This book was an okay read it had potential to be much better. There was a lot of grammatical errors and I noticed some of the words Marcus used were not that of someone speaking in the 12th century. I also didn't like that there were no numbers telling you what chapter you were reading. My book marker fell out and I had a heck of a time locating the page. I liked Kit's character for the most part but I think the author went overboard with what this women could do. I thought I was reading about Wonder Woman and Marcus stayed in a jealous state throughout the entire book. Not the best book I've ever read but certainly no the worst.
