In my reviewer's experience, there are basically two kinds of readers: Those who read a book at one seating and those who do not. However, the latter also read the book from start to finish.
I am in the second category.
I like Hilggin's books for several reasons, one being that and although I have to put the book down from time to time for whatever reason, when I return, I remember exactly what is going on. In other words, the story has stayed with me, i.e., no need to re read pages to recall the story line.
A good plot will deliver that recall to me every time.
"Sheba" was a fun read, just like watching an Indiana Jones flick. The story line flows. I've read several of Higgin's books and none have been a disappointment in any way. All have been a lot of fun to read.
I don't re tell story lines in my reviews, I leave that to the writer. But what I will say is that I find Jack Higgins an immensely talented writer, one I will enjoy reading again and again.

This book, like it seems many HIggins books are, is a slow starter. Once more I considered ditching the book several times in the first half. But I hung in there and the book came around about mid story making the second half pretty fantastic. It takes place while Hitler is invading Poland and orders the destruction of the Suez Canal. While the Canal is saved, the book turns into an attempt to find a rescue an archaeologist that has gone along into dangerous desert in search of the tomb of Sheba. Then not long after it's the rescuers that need rescuing from Nazis and desert thugs. Make it through the boring 1st half and the book will come together.

Jack HIggins has written some very good stories, but this is not one of them. The ostensible plot is abandoned halfway through the book, the characters behave in ways that are comprehensible only in the context of the author's needs, and way too many story-lines are left at loose ends.

Amazing story line with multiple twists I didn’t see until they were on me. Kane is quite a explorer and surpasses all you can ever imagine before getting caught again.......

I accidently picked up a Jack Higgins book at the library. That was close to a year ago and I'm hooked on his books. Very entertaining.
The Sphinx of Driz
This was my first Higgins novel and I really enjoyed it. It never turned out how it promised, but it was a fun ride nonetheless.
Higgins scores again! It won't win a Pulitzer, but as usual I enjoy his tale. This would be excellent vacation reading.
