They are all intertwined in Anne R. Allen’s new book – FOOD OF LOVE.

Two sisters: one white, one black  . They are all intertwined in Anne R. While the main plot revolves around someone trying to kill Princess Regina, the story is truly told in flashback diary scenes, which take us back to the 60’s counterculture and what happens to two foster sisters, one white, one black, growing up in Boston. What do an overweight Princess, an African-American Baptist minister, a nuclear bomb, UFOs, a pornographic movie producer, Mickey Mouse and Elvis have in common?

As a result she spent many summers with her Welsh grandparents in Anglesey and learnt to love the sea. Now she is based in Devon to be near her daughter and 2 small grandchildren. Her restless spirit has meant a number of moves, the longest stay being in Guernsey for nearly fourteen years after falling in love with the island and the people. She contrived to leave one son behind to ensure a valid reason for frequent returns. Her younger son is based in London - ideal for city breaks ☺.

Right off the bat I seemed to have trouble keeping the characters straight, but I persevered due to all the glowing reviews, assuming the story would get more coherent.
I read all the way to the end and was underwhelmed with the ending....just not my kind of writing style, I guess. I love so many of the other female authors who write zany mystery novels that i expected to love this, too. I do appreciate the sensitivity & support for weight issues, religious values and women's health....these, to me . were this book's best features. I just couldn't get to "know" these characters and care about what happened to them.
I bought 3 Kindle books by this author; 2 down and one to go....we'll see. Sorry I can't be more positive in my review...you may like this author's work....it's just not my "cup of tea".

I read Food of Love when it was first released from England. I loved it then and love this clean rewrite. Anne has a sense of humor that takes the reader through her characters' crazy yet very human struggles and leaves you giggling. You love them and their quirks.

I was pleasantly surprised with this read as I had never read anything by this author before. It was a mystery from a comical view. Regina is flighty but funny and her sister, Cady, is pretentious but ultimately human. There is also a surprise ending. I would definitely recommend this book.

Anne Allen at her best. I read the Camilla Randall series backwards - from latest release to earliest. Did not know that at the time but, in any order you do it, DO IT. Fun, fun romp!

Really entertaining. Anne R. Allen has quickly become a favorite author, her stories are entertaining, I cannot put my kindle down. I think she writes really well from different perspectives and she can weave one heck of a story. Well done.

From a princess backing out of the toilet stall dragging a bucket while hobbling around with one broken leg, it's down the rabbit hole into a Terry Southernish romp that goes from a not-so-romany-a-clef Silver Cathederal with it's "Saturday morning Christian TV show, 'Gladly My Cross-Eyed Bear' starring Gladly Bear, the sight-challenged teddy bear angel," to a race around L.A. fleeing assassins, deadly "accidents" and a demented TV reporter hell bent on bumping up her ratings, to a romantic denoument that involves the possibility of opening a pastry shop in Solvang. Oh, and a gastly act of revenge for one of the books many malefactors: "Think of a great chef spending the rest of her life in a country where the entire cuisine is based on cabbage."Imagine the fun in getting to write a sentence like that!

What rollicking fun. Anne Allen has an ear for sharply drawn dialogue and an eye for the perfect detail which will define a character. Food of Love is a page-turner, its fast pace keeping one poised for the next startling development.
Food of Love--what great fun. It's funny, Fast and covers deep issues all at the same time. The prose are perfect and the story endearing. What a great read.
