Long-term planning for energy systems is often based on deterministic economic optimization and forecasts of fuel prices. When fuel price evolution is underestimated, the consequence is a low penet ration of renewables and more efficient technologies in favour of fossil alternatives. In particular we are interested in the synergies between geothermal and other renewable resources, and in the development of methods to support strategic energy planning at urban and national level.

Energy markets in the longer-term: Planning under uncertainty. Conference Kydes, . This book describes the papers presented in meetings of energy markets, the future planning and uncertainties. Significant problems have occurred associated with failed power plant investments, the poor financial condition of the state's two largest utilities, and requests for large increases in electric rates.

In the light of the interdependence demonstrated among world problems in every sector, emphasis is placed on the need for approaches which are sufficiently complex to encompass the factions, conflicts and rival worldviews that undermine collective initiative towards a promising future.

Niklas van Bracht, Albert Moser. Published in. 14th International Conference on the Europea. 017. In the course of ambitious climate targets, the European electrical power system is subject to an upcoming shift from fossil-fueled to renewable power generation.

The rapid transition of the energy industry, reflected by reduced demands for energy, a rapid decline in domestic oil and gas drilling, and the apparent world oil glut, has yielded optimistic predictions of the long-term energy situation which may be undesirable or risky. This publication provides a forum for bridging the gap between the technical and the decision-making communities, and presents blueprints for productive, comprehensive interchanges. Major topics include: sources of risk for the electric utility industry, analysis of risk for utilities, risk management for electric utilities, and non-linearity and uncertainty in energy modeling.
