Includes 1985 summary roster, a detailed pictorial roster for each class of locomotive, and sections on slugs, remote controlled equipment, Bicentennials, the Toledo, Peoria & Western, preserved locomotives, business, excursion and special purpose cars, cabooses and proposed renumbering for the Santa Fe's locomotives in the SPSF merger. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos with one page of color shots of pre-painted locomotives in the Kodachrome paint scheme that had been chosen. 164 pages.

Anybody interested in learning about, or reproducing a scale version of the Santa Fe Railroad's Motive Power as it was through the mid 1980's, can not do better than this very thorough work. All of the power from the early diesel period, through the publish date of this book (1985) are covered with roster info and photographic evidence; paint scheme changes, unit renumberings, are covered and dates are given. ATSF cabooses are also given a chapter, where the classes and painting variations are covered. If you love the Santa Fe, you need this book.
