Cold Regions Science and Technology is an international journal dealing with the science and technical problems of cold environments in both the polar regions and more temperate locations. It includes fundamental aspects of cryospheric sciences which have applications for cold regions problems as well as engineering topics which relate to the cryosphere. Emphasis is given to applied science with broad coverage of the physical and mechanical aspects of ice (including glaciers and sea ice), snow and snow avalanches, ice-water systems, ice-bonded soils and permafrost.

Event Type: Conferences and Workshops. Sustainable infrastructure development and permafrost science, in a climate change context, will be the focus of the discussions of this international conference. When: 18 August 2019 to 22 August 2019. Where: Quebec City Convention Centre, Québec City, Canada. Abstract submission deadline: October 31, 2018.

The 70 peer-reviewed papers encompass many aspects of infrastructures in cold regions, including methods, successes, and failures within the practice. The topics include pavement systems, geotechnical issues, environmental engineering and utilities, road construction and maintenance, and transportation planning and design. Theoretical and practical dimensions of snow and ice are considered in terms of mechanics, formation, and river and harbor operations. Sections on structures address design, materials selection, and operations. Some contributors make recommendations for advancing the scientific knowledge and practice in engineering solutions.
