I originally read the "Cursed Earth" series in JUDGE DREDD: THE COMPLETE CASE FILES Vol. I noticed then that some of the chapters were missing. I assumed that perhaps English comics had lower thresholds when it came to nudity and sex, so maybe the more racier chapters were clipped for the American market. I discovered Judge Dredd as a kid in 1990 through Judge Dredd's Megazine, (which was basically like 2000AD, it was awesome), and have read some of John Wagner's collections in the Case Files, XXX Files, etc. Cursed Earth seems to be the most popular or at least most well known of the Judge Dredd arcs.

The Cursed Earth" is the second extended storyline of the British science fictional comics character Judge Dredd. It appeared in 2000 AD, and it was the first Judge Dredd storyline to exceed twenty episodes. Written mostly by Pat Mills, the story arc added many core elements to the backstory of the world of Mega-City One, Judge Dredd's city. The storyline ran from 2000 AD to 85 (May to October 1978), and according to Kevin O'Neill was inspired by Roger Zelazny's novel Damnation Alley.
