Good book. Part of a long series so you need to start with book one.

Purchased the first three books in this series at a used book store. LOVED the story of the Wakefields! It's a terrific mix of Christian fiction and history all wrapped around this one family. Gilbert Morris draws you in and keeps you wanting more. It's a good thing there are 7 books in this series! I loved them all and didn't want them to end.

This book completed the series for me. I learned so much of the early church history woven into these books and the very difficult things early Christians suffered to share the Gospel.

I wouldn't reccomend this as a good place to start the Wakefield Dynasty. The characters in this book seem to be disconnected from the previous books in the series, and there were too many Morgans and not enough Wakefields. I did like the part about Jenny's friendship with Nell, the famous mistress of Charles II, and the side plot about John Bunyan was fascinating. If you want to read all the Wakefield Dynasty books, by all means read this one. As a stand-alone, however, this book should be skipped.
Excellent read. Part of a 7 book series. Love the author and his research is impeccable. Learned more from his books than I ever expected.
