The Cowboy's Courtship (Love Inspired Large Print). A great story of letting go of past hurts, forgiveness and learning to trust God and Love again and become a family.

Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 11 years ago. It's been a long time since I read a debut novel that I loved as much as Trusting Him. With engaging characters, true to life dialogue and situations, and a faith thread that is realistic but not overdone, Ms. Minton has written a winner. I hope she writes lots more. Beautiful Love Story. Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 12 years ago. Michael Carson is fresh out of prison. Michael Carson was leaving prison. Maggie Simmons had a past, too, but tried to give everyone a second chance. Maggie met Blake again at a party where Michael's parents lived and realized she was not the only one who knew him well. Drugs, romance and challenged children make this book a good read. Pastor Banks kept watch on all his flock throughout this book.

It's not your usual romance.

Maggie Simmons is a counselor at a church. She has an after school and summer program for the youth and it takes up a lot of her time. Romance in her life is non-existent, and she doesn't think she'll ever be comfortable enough to have another relationship. Something bad happened to her years ago and the memories of that night still haunt her.

Then the most unlikely hero walks in. Who would ever think that an ex-drug addict who just got out of prison where he spent three or four years could be the man Maggie was looking for? She didn't need anyone to take care of her! After all, her father had abandoned her before she was even born and her mother OD'd when she was thirteen years old. The story, though, is very believable and sweet!

Besides drug addiction, drug crimes, and romance; this story deals with troubled teens, dead-beat fathers who suddenly get guilty and do the right thing, and trust. The author did a great job in weaving this story together and creating the characters!

I did question a bit about how accepted Michael seemed to be. I don't believe that there wasn't some opposition in church with Michael actually being a part of it's ministry. And wouldn't his working with impressionable teenagers be a problem as well? Perhaps I'm over-analyzing...These questions didn't take away from my review - just things I was wondering about as I read the story. I just thought he was a bit too accepted.

This is the 4th book I read by Brenda Minton. I really liked this book's storyline. This book's storyline was sad ???? & heartbreaking ????. I really liked the Christian theme of this story. I really liked Maggie's character. I really liked Michael's character. I was proud of Michael. I really liked the serious topics this story addresses. I really liked the ending.
Michael Carson is fresh out of prison. He became a Christian while behind bars, and feels a calling to work with troubled teens in a church youth group. Pastor Banks befriended him while he was in prison and has offered to rent him a trailer. He's also offered Michael an opportunity to work in his church. Then Michael meets Maggie Simmons, youth director at the church, who has an unflattering opinion of the handsome ex-con. She believes he will just be there for a short time before going back to his comfortable, affluent lifestyle. Maggie's father walked away when he found her mother was pregnant. He never made any effort to stay in touch or be a father. Add the terrifying experience of a date gone wrong, and Maggie has trouble trusting men. All men, including Michael Carson.
She wants to give Michael a chance, but that involves trust, and Maggie doesn't trust. Not even when he seems to connect with the kids in the youth group. In the meantime, Michael's former drug dealer won't leave him alone. Maggie and Michael are both Christians, but they will need a lot of faith to overcome the problems standing betweeen them and true love.
Trusting Him is a moving story that will reach out and grab the reader's heart. The multifacated characters are well developed. The conflict is real, and the problems they face require more that just a band-aid solution. A deeply emotional story, Trusting Him is more than a romance, it's a beautiful love story with a strong faith message.
Highly recommended.
