An essential read. Best foundation for my course in the Spiritual Life of the Minister. Great insight from others in the service of the Lord.

It is so easy for those of us more inclined to an intellectual faith to lose the mysticism of the disciplines. Indeed the very term, mysticism, gives me the hives. To be real, so many disussions on the disciplines are emotional and sappy cheesedom. Yet, the authors inside this collection, some of whom I've had as profs, are intellectually and spiritually-generated and faithful. This collection offers thoughful reflections upon the spiritual disciplines without being too soupy or too logical.

Was not looking 4ward to reading book for class. Was so thankful the prof required it. Life changing!

Refreshing and instigating.
