SARA WEAVER SNAPPED AWAKE, felt for her rifle, and hoped she’d at least get the chance to shoot one of the bastards before they killed her. She had no idea whether it was day or night.

SARA WEAVER SNAPPED AWAKE, felt for her rifle, and hoped she’d at least get the chance to shoot one of the bastards before they killed her. The Bible was open on the floor where she’d left it and she quickly found her place and resumed her prayers to Yahweh, the stern and unbending God of the Old Testament. A noise brought her eyes up to the windows, covered with the denim curtains that she and her mother had hung to keep the enemy from seeing them. Still, a few shards of unnatural light cut through the room and lit the cabin like constant dusk.

Sara Weaver was a teenager when her little brother was shot and killed by a U.S. Marshal. One day later, her mother was killed right in front of her by an FBI sniper. She survived an eleven-day siege, hunkered down in a cabin on a mountain top in Naples, Idaho with her little sisters, her injured father, and injured adopted brother. But walking down that mountain to safety was only the beginning. In the years that followed, she was hounded by news media and reporters. People created their own versions of the event, each presenting their own spin, their own angle, and their own social or political views on those tragic days. But this book is Sara’s story, written in her own words. It is the story of Ruby Ridge from the inside, from the perspective of the 16-year-old girl who experienced the nightmare firsthand. However, it isn’t just about the pain and hopelessness that shadowed the next ten years as she tried to move on. Sara's story continues with the transformation in her heart that changed the course of her life. This book is about forgiving even the most horrible and personal of crimes. It’s about finding hope, about finding joy and freedom from the only source that can offer it in this sometimes broken world—her Savior, Jesus Christ.

"This is my story...watered with tears, defined by pain, reborn with the hope that it can help others." Thus starts this remarkable account of the life of Sara Weaver. She is, of course, one of the survivors of the attack and seige forever known as Ruby Ridge. While there is heart break and violence, there is also healing and peace.

Sara takes you on a brief but fascinating journey through her life. Her family's gradual withdraw from mainstream society into a life similar to the pioneers of American history. Their attempts to do their own thing and just be left alone to follow their conscience and live in peace. Sara gives her mixed feelings about her family's alternative lifestyle. She tells of their good times and their love for one another. She lets us know in detail the living nightmare of her brother's murder and her family coming under seige by a literal army of federal agents. The horror of having her unarmed mother shot dead before her very eyes, her father and family friend kevin Harris, shot and wounded. The days spent laying on the cabin floor next to her mother's lifeless body with the constant presence of impending death will pierce your heart. Though she and her father, sisters, and Harris would survive, their lives would never be the same. She discovered living with the pain and bittereness after could be as hard at times as living through the original terror and violence.

While Sara goes through many changes and makes various attempts at getting past these life shattering events and catching a sense of normalcy in her life, she discovers peace of mind is illusive. Moving to a new place and starting a family of her own can't bring healing to her wounded soul. The Lord Jesus Christ gives forgiveness for herself and gives her the ability to forgive others. He brings healing and peace for her broken heart. By His grace she is a new woman and filled with new life. After passing through so much pain and darkness, Sara has the light and the joy of her saviour, Jesus Christ. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12,13

I was in the Washington state area when the events at Ruby Ridge took place. I remember hearing the media's version of the siege, and thinking if this guy must be dangerous as they think, it is no wonder they need a virtual army combined from at least three federal agencies to capture him. Little did I know of the "rest of the story." I have a signed copy of Randy's and Sara's first book and then I realized wait a minute, could the FBI, BATF and Marshal's Office really just pick this man and his family out of revenge for his political beliefs and get away with murdering his son and wife? With Sara's book, the gaps are filled in, but there comes a bonus and that is how she was transformed from a person trapped in a religious mindset that was a counterfiet of the true Christian experience. I have never met Sara, but someday I am going to thank her for her courage, her honesty, taking charge of her family and love of Christ. What a brave book and what a brave witness both to this historical tragedy but also for Christ. I salute you young lady and may God bless.

They say they can hardly wait till the next week, so that we can continue it. Well worth the read. I LOVE to read, so this was well worth it, & worth sharing.
