Holy Bible: King James Version With Apocrypha. However, they cost two to three times the very low price of this item.

So, the Apocrypha was in the bible 200 years before Jesus, and was therefore most likely in the bible Jesus and the apostles used and quoted from. It was the bible of the first Christian church.

I purchased this Bible for the Apocrypha and this version didn't disappoint me at all. The only issue I had was with the margin of texts on the pages. There is a lot of real estate left.

The Good:
1. thinner than expect due to higher qaulity paper as another revierer noted.
2. 1611 text of the KJV.
3. no aprocrypha (yes this is a good thing for people like myself who do not accept the apocrypha as being part of the 66 books of the inspired word of God).
4. The bibliographical introduction is awesome.
5. The facsimile of the1611 Bible section is good but Idont care about the Catholic holidays and Calendar stuff. Yes I know this was in the original 1611 im just saying I dont need it myself and do not prefer those parts.
6. This Bible has the same minimal marginal notes and verse links in the margin as the 1611 it seems.
7. This one has the same artistic Capital letters for the first letter of a Chapter.
8. the hardcover is very neatly done with gold colored lettering and brown leather-like hard cover.
9. Gold colored cloth bookmark sown into spine.

The Bad:
1. No headwords (printing on the outside egde of the pages to show where the Bible Books are), but these can be added manually by hand or by buying tabs for each Bible Book.
2. Uses alot of Latin for Bible Book names and Roman Numerals for Chapter numbers (but this is also the same situation with the original 1611).

Being originally from the United Kingdom I was very interested in the Queen's Christmas day speech to the nation this year. HRH Elizabeth II highlighted the fact that 2011 will be 400th anniversary of the King James Bible and it was here that I got the idea to seek one out. I purchased this product knowing that it was a hardcover but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the edition. The paper is very fine thus allowing the bible to be thinner than I expected. It is a true and exact copy of the 1611 KJV as published 400 years ago. It takes a bit of time to tune into the old spelling and use of letters. For example the word "son" is printed "sonne", letter "V" is printed "U", letter "J" is printed "Y" etc. I find it useful to have a more modern translation beside it for comparison purposes, such as my New American Standard Version. I am very pleased with the volume and have it on a book display stand in my office. I was brought up in an environment where the KJV, or as it is more often designated, the Authorised Version, is the definitive translation and so it is very gratifying to have a facsimile of the original edition.
