Taking a pioneering approach to commentary writing, Brevard Childs gives an entirely original treatment to the book of Exodus. Apart from the philological notes and translation, this commentary includes a form-critical section, looking at the growth of the tradition in its previous stages; a consideration of the meaning of the text in its present form; and a consideration of its meaning in its total Old Testament context.

Kamuro
This book is of absolutely no value to me. I would be glad to sell it to someone who would want it. Cheap. If you are interested in a work from an evangelical believer, look for something else.
Umrdana
As advertised.

The format of this commentary includes:
1) Tradition/Source Criticism
2)OT & NT context
3)Historical context- brief overview of how early CHristians, church fathers, reformers, modern commentators have handled the text

Thankfully, the author does not get bogged down in textual criticism and treats the text as Scripture. I am preaching through Exodus right now and have found his commentary very helpful...I could only buy one Exodus Commentary and I know this was the best buy for the money.

A classic

GAZANIK
Awesome commentary!

An old standard, a mine of historical interpretation of Exodus. Theologically rich.
