Fisher Unwin was the London publishing house founded by Thomas Fisher Unwin, husband of British Liberal politician Jane Cobden in 1882.

Fisher Unwin was the London publishing house founded by Thomas Fisher Unwin, husband of British Liberal politician Jane Cobden in 1882. Unwin was a co-founder of the Johnson Club, formed 13 September, 1884, to mark the hundred years since the death of Dr Samuel Johnson. The latterly more famous Stanley Unwin (his nephew) started his career by working in his uncle's firm.

Sir Stanley Unwin, KCMG (19 December 1884 – 13 October 1968) was a British publisher. Unwin started his career at the publishing firm of his uncle Thomas Fisher Unwin. In 1914 Stanley Unwin purchased a controlling interest in the firm George Allen and Sons, and established George Allen & Unwin, later to become Allen and Unwin. The company found success publishing authors such as Bertrand Russell, Sidney Webb, R. H. Tawney and Gandhi.

After education at Abbotsholme school, Uttoxeter, and leaving it aged 17 with, as he later wrote, "no conspicuous qualifications", Rayner sold books for Basil Blackwell of Oxford.
