When I bought this book I never thought that at times while I read it I would actually be laughing out loud, considering the topic matter. Other times I had to stop reading for a second because I was gasping from shock so much I thought I may pass out. This book is humorous at times and devastatingly terrifying as well. Its a well written book about first and foremost a man's life, but it is definitely much more than that, this book is about OUR world and how in a shoot-first-ask-questions-later society human life can become devalued, reduced to numbers on paper or the bottom line. This book demonstrates that all men (and women) in service to their country (any country) absolutely deserve the upmost respect and dignity from their country in times of war and times of peace for all that they and their families sacrificed. They should never be made to fight to receive due medical assistance when they have fought so hard already. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the topic of nuclear tests and/or a deep, rich, vivid, account of the life of a true survivor.

A harrowing personal account of nuclear weapon testing on Kiritimati Island in the 1960s and the fight for awareness and understanding of the health impact on servicemen who experienced the blasts. A courageous, intimate and enlightening biography.

Having served with Ken McGinley on Christmas Island Pacific, during the British Nuclear Tests, may i point out that thetime period Ken refers to was in the 50s .1957 -58,not the 60s
