LITTLE RICKY" TAKES A BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT I LOVE LUCY As the co-author of LIFE AFTER LUCY, I obviously believe Keith Thibodeaux ("Little Ricky") has quite a story to tell! Obviously this is a book for "I Love Lucy" fans. and even "The Andy Griffith Show" fans, another show where Keith had a small but memorable part playing Opie's best friend! Keith's story is much more than just a memoir of his "I Love Lucy" days. Keith was not just a "child star"; he was taken in and treated very nearly as the 3rd child of Lucille.

Thibodeaux describes his religious conversion with deep feeling, but many readers may grow weary, having heard the same story in other sagas.

Keith was a three-year-old drumming prodigy in the bayous of Louisiana when his father took the family to California, hoping to ride his young son's drumsticks to a career in show business. That's exactly what happened as father and son became fixtures on the Lucy show, one as a gofer, one as an actor. Thibodeaux describes his religious conversion with deep feeling, but many readers may grow weary, having heard the same story in other sagas. Still, if you ever watched Lucy, it's hard to keep yourself from picking up this book.

The Life After Lucy: The True Story of I Love Lucy’s Little Ricky is a book that I think will be of interest to fans of the television series because it explores the life, the career, the hopes and the dreams of Keith Thobodeaux, the actor that portrayed Little Ricky in the show’s later seasons. If you ever wanted to know what. of his life and how he coped with the challenges and difficulties that he encountered. To my knowledge, this is one of the few books out there.

The actor who played Little Ricky on "I Love Lucy" is definitely not "little" anymore! . As the last living cast member of beloved '50s sitcom I Love Lucy, Keith Thibodeaux represents the legacy of one of the most iconic (not to mention daring) shows of the century. But it's been a while since he's been in the spotlight. So that had us wondering what the former child star (he went by Richard Keith professionally) looks like these days. Well, he's now 64 - and he still has those adorable chubby cheeks. Thibodeaux has also been up to a lot since leaving the show. At 19, he joined rock group David and the Giants.

Being a member of the baby boomer generation, I remember growing up with the I Love Lucy series (although since I was born in 1955, I watched them in reruns several years later). So I was intrigued to hear the story of life with the I Love Lucy cast from the eyes of a little boy. Then, I heard that Keith Thibodeaux went through a life-changing experience because of his faith in Jesus Christ, and I wanted to know more about his life after the show ended. This is a book worth reading, regardless of your religious beliefs. The stories Keith shares about his life on the I Love Lucy show, and about his interactions with the cast members off the set, are great to read. I especially like the way Keith shares these stories. He tells them in a kind way, and is never hurtful in his recounting of these stories. Keith remained friends with Lucy and Desi up until they each passed away, and remains friends with Lucie and Desi Jr, so his recounting of the later years is just as enjoyable as those of the early years.

If you are a Christian, you'll be especially touched to hear how Keith's downward-spiraling life was turned around by his faith experience. Truly miraculous.

Keith gives an honest raw account of his battles with fame, drugs, depression and relationships and his transition to a new life in Christ. This was a good read and the photo section filled with memories of the show is a nice addition.

I grew up watching Keith on The I Love Lucy show..
like many of us Baby Boomers.

He and his wife came to our Church 2 or 3 years ago..
with their Ballet Magnificat performance.

I was finally going to be able to see " Little Ricky" in person !

I had never been to a Ballet.
I'm glad that I went.
It was wonderful.

I meant to get the book then...but I was too shy to talk to him!

It was sad hearing what he went thru ..with Lucy & Desi Sr.'s
marriage problems..on the set.. and at their home.

Sadly, later.. he was to experience it in his own home.

I'm glad that I DIDN'T didn't have to introduce myself that day..
after Church ...as Connie.

You will see why...when you read the book.

All the pressure put on him ..at such a young age ...no doubt contributed
to Keith's drug - demons....and problems.. later in his life.

It ends well tho...;

Thank You God!!!
:)

It was nice to read another cast from I Love Lucy. Of course, I focus more on the relationship between him with Lucy & Desi. Lucy & Desi really love each other till the very end even both are remarried. Their happiness are difference from their second marriage what Keith observed. The real happiness only exist in their marriage (Lucy & Desi).

I met Keith (Little Ricky)in the early 80's outside the small Pennslvania town of Waynesboro at a rural coffee-House. I went there to see David & the Giants. I had no idea at the time that he would give a testimony of his life. At that point, I found out he was "Little Ricky" from I love Lucy. This blew me away, because I grew up watching reruns of that show in the 70's and I had know idea what a interesting yet hard life he lived. We talked for a little while after the concert and I got his autograph. It brought home to me at the time, how small this world really is and that TV people have real lives and experience real pain like the rest of us.
Keith's story is amazing and it will keep your attention the whole way through. If you ever watched "I Love Lucy", you will appreciate his behind the scenes account of those episodes that he was part of. Keith's life is a rich history of not only the people that surrounded him, but the goodness of God's saving grace. This story takes you from his boyhood to a misguided broken man who was searching for something to fill the emptiness inside. He found it and his life became a blessing to others. He now plays to the beat of a different drum. Enjoy!
