Dame Thora Hird is such a gorgeous and talented performer - over a period of about sixty or seventy years no less - that it is a pleasure to hear her voice when you lap up this edition of her memoirs since she writes as she spoke. In a Yorkshire accent and hilariously. This is such a happy, jokey, newsy autobiography of a brilliant and modest woman. Go and rent the telemovies "Lost for Words" and "Waiting for the Telegram" after reading this and you will be richly rewarded.

Dame Thora Hird is long gone but I loved reading her book of wisdom and insights and history of her career. I so enjoyed her on the British comedy, "Last of the summer wine" and wish she and the rest of the cast were still around.
