Mallowan’s Memoirs was first published in 1977. Agatha Christie’s widower’s recollections of his archaeological triumphs and life with Agatha.

Max was a premier archaeologist who married Agatha Christie, ten years older than he. Max wrote up archaeological discoveries and described finding them in this book. You'll probably prefer Agatha's account of their life more than this rather unexciting book, but I liked it rather well.
A lovely addition to my Agatha Christie library. Delightful stories of his and Agatha's life exploring.
Max Mallowan was an archeologist working in Messopotamia in the 1920's and 30's While working at Ur, where he leaned the business of being an archeologist, he met Agatha Christie; they married and had a happy life. Mallowan dug in several sites in northern Iraq and in Syria. The picture of how "digs" went in the era isof interest given the curent political situation in the area.
This memoir is quite touching to read in that one gets a glimpse into the life of Sir Max Mallowan who was not only a great archaeologist but also the husband of the greatest mystery writer of all time, Agatha Christie.
Fast delivery. Interesting book.
This book has added charm as a former library book from Minnesota
I really like it, but only because he was the husband of Agatha Christie.. I think I was enthralled about Agatha in his life, but quite frankly he was a boring kind of person who struck gold with marrying Agatha Christie. Later He stayed loyal to Agatha, but why not when she could pay for all his digs. It is interesting to note that quite quickly after her death, Max remarried. Poor goose, This is what makes him interesting. He was 13 years younger, and now had all the wealth he required and married within his age group. What a jerk.
Mallowan's style is very congenial, and his memoirs are as enlightening about places and times as they are enjoyable in the plentiful amusing -- even fascinating -- anecdotes of his very rich life, most of which was spent with his mystery-writer wife, Agatha Christie. He does devote quite a lot of space to the highlights of his archaeological discoveries -- which were, after all, rather monumental in every sense of the word! I have no reservations whatsoever in unequivocally recommending this fine specimen of autobiography to the widest possible audience. If you don't read it, you will be the poorer for it!
