I bought this book along with Lighting Techniques for High Key Portrait Photography and both books complement each other . Just a few moments with this book clearly shows why Norman Phillips has won so many awards.
I bought this book along with Lighting Techniques for High Key Portrait Photography and both books complement each other perfectly. The same comprehensive and practical information fills this book and makes it a valuable piece of reference material in a photographer's arsenal. This is a fantastic collection of portraits shot with low light to illustrate just what is possible when you know what you are doing. And the discussion (including light placement drawings) describe what Mr. Phillips was doing when he took the picture.
Another one that had a few helpful hints, but I just don't like the way it's presented, compared to a few other photography books.

Norman Phillips is the founder of The Norman Phillips of London Photography Studio. In fact, this book, in contrast to his 'Lighting Techniques for High Key Portrait Photography' and 'Lighting Techniques for Low Key Portrait Photography', has a very great deal more images in it. In fact, it is outstanding in that way. Something else I really appreciated was the final chapter on 'Glamor in Middle Key' because it featured didigtally enhanced images and showed how to go from ordinary to nice through the application of digital enhancements.
