Least surprising to me: that peacock, from India. Most surprising: the last postcard in the book, a colorful red-knobbed hornbill from Indonesia, looking like a cross between a toucan and Carmen Miranda.

There are 15 postcards in this book, and I'd say about half the images are pretty striking, and half are a little mundane. They have more of a matte than a glossy finish, if that matters to you. The cards measure 4 x 6 inches, and tear out cleanly from the book spine, without any jagged, perforated edges. There's a brief caption on the back of each card, giving the bird's common name and sometimes the country where it's found. All in all a decent value.

As others have noted, fabulous photos and a nice selection of bird species. Only one photo -- of a gangly chick -- left me scratching my head and wondering why probably more beautiful options didn't make the cut. A best buy for any bird fancier and for anyone sending postcards to friends new and old. Note: card quality is excellent and should stand up to international travel.

I want more of these collections from Art Wolfe!

WILD ASIAN BIRDS is truly an international effort: curated in New Zealand, printed in Hong Kong, and distributed by Pelican Publishing Company of Louisiana. The cards are of very high quality in a slightly glossy matte finish that resists fingerprints. The birds are usually identified by species and location (did you know that the little white-napped mynah is a member of the Starling family?). The "message" side is segmented with text and address blocks. The only drawback I can find is that these cards, at four inches by six (10 x 15 cm) seem small compared to the oversize cards generally making the rounds today. Silver lining: domestically they can go for the postcard rate, which [edit]: as of June 1, 2015, is fourteen cents cheaper than letter rate. (Alas, sending these cards internationally, as with Postcrossing, costs the same as the larger ones.) At this price, though, I am not complaining. High recommendation.

I was very disappointed in the pictures in this booklet. There's only 4 or 5 I would send through Postcrossing, but as the saying goes, you get what you paid for.

Love the postcards in this book! A lot of different bird species pictured in this book of 15 cards. They tear out easily and without the jagged border like most books! For the price, I would definitely recommend and buy again for myself!

These are great cards. I have already sent out several. They are a little hard to get out of the book, and I don't like the little ridges, but you can cut the edge off in a thin thin sliver with a cutting board, and no one will be the wiser. Great cards!

These aren't the best photos. Some are kind of low resolution. They are thick enough to mail - not exactly the cheap flimsy ones. And they are easy to tear out. Quite a few cute ones in the collection.
I love the pictures and the quality of the postcard. I appreciate the very fast shipping.
