Thorsten Knublauch's book about the Beatles' 1966 German Blitz tour came out seven years ago. In preparing for the 50th anniversary of the tour, I thought it would be a good idea to re-read this book. This book was taken from the book he and Axel Korinth wrote called Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand- Die Beatles in Deutschland 1960-1970, which is all in German. I read the English translation of the book. This is the ONLY book written about the 1966 tours in Germany, and is a must have for hard core fans. Reactions

The Beatles’ brief 1966 tour of West Germany, Japan and the Philippines began on this day, with two concerts at the Circus-Krone-Bau in Munich, Germany. The German leg of the tour was known as the Bravo Blitztournee, and was sponsored by the entertainment magazine Bravo. The Beatles’ set throughout the tour consisted of 11 songs: Rock And Roll Music, She’s A Woman, If I Needed Someone, Day Tripper, Baby’s In Black, I Feel Fine, Yesterday, I Wanna Be Your Man, Nowhere Man, Paperback Writer and I’m Down. For these first dates, the group’s recent absence from live performance was apparent.

After departing from Star-Club Hamburg on January 1, 1963, the Beatles allowed themselves plenty of time to get back to Germany. It was only in June 1966 when they returned for six concerts and five days in Munich, Essen and Hamburg. This book deals with this sole German tour in a chronological order. It explains the difficulties everybody had to pull the tour through as well as the actual preparations by the promoter and the police. Every little thing that happened in those hot five days is described in great detail in a minute-by-minute-coverage. For the first time ever also the account from the organiser's archive was examined. Thus many expenses can be proven as well as the surprisingly highly complicated advance sales of the tickets. All surviving press conferences, interviews and song announcements are transcribed in their exact wording. Furthermore fans will discover detailed descriptions of all known footage, even some unknown until this book, audio recordings, a list of all places the Beatles visited during those days and what they look like today, a short historical overview of then current events in Germany, as well as an account of a German Beatles concert in 1967 that never happened. Add to this hundreds of unpublished photographs and images of memorabilia like concert tickets, autographs and documents from the biggest private collections. This is the definite book on the Bravo-Beatles-Blitztour through Germany!
