Françoise Cachin was born to the pediatrician Charles Cachin and his wife Ginette (née Signac). Marcel Cachin was a French politician. Paul Victor Jules Signac was a French Neo-Impressionist painter who, working with Georges Seurat, helped develop the Pointillist style. Cachin studied art history under André Chastel at the Institut d'Art et d'Archéologie of the University of Paris. These scholarly little books then released in successive volumes, without a systematic plan, each of which is structured like a separate book.
