Series: Dover Pictorial Archive Series. At first glance you might wonder what all the fuss is about fruit crate labels, then one particular illustration from Carol Grafton's brilliantly colored collection of 92 designs catches your eye and you are hooked. As the concise yet historically accurate summary points out on the first page, these colorful, often whimsical, labels were affixed to wooden shipping crates of produce until the mid 1950's when they were replaced by more standardized cardboard boxes.

Series: Dover Pictorial Archive. The bit I like about this book is that the designs are in color, so you can see variations in light and dark colors, color combinations, colors receeding and coming forward, etc. Some designs are done using just the tile shape, and some depend on designs painted onto the tiles. Some are very bold and simple designs and some are very flowery. Appears to be a good mix of designs from around the world and throughout time.

Carol Belanger Grafton. I bought this book expecting a lot of good pictures and diagrams. I did get that; however, I didn't get anything else. The saving grace of the book is that the pictures are in fact excellent, and, it does say right on the front cover that the pictures are from ninteenth-century sources. The 1800s' aren't exactly known for their high quality of historical accuracy, and it's only in the most contemporary armour, approximately late 1400's through 1600's, that the illustrations are most reliable.

lets go baby
Ms Grafton's book is an excellent and colorful resource that all lovers of decoupage must own. The size of the graphics vary and the images are usually quite clear and colorful. There is no shortage of colors, sizes, shapes, and varieties of fruits and flowers. The quality of the paper is glossy and easy to cut and paste. I highly recommend this book.

I am a huge fan of Carol Belanger Grafton, and this book of images is part of the reason why. The images are beautifully rendered, very clear, and have magnificent colour. I am using these, and others of hers, for both decoupage and scrapbooking. They are so lovely that just paging through the book is inspiring.

Nice assortment of old timey scrap images, unfortunately the colors are NOT as saturated as one would like...especially as I expected the quality of the images to equal that of their century old originals. Other than this, I'd give these series of Dover books high marks.

Great clip art. Vintage Fruit and Flowers. Very nice.

These are pretty and colorful patterns. They are "dated" in the sense that they are patterns that were popular probably a century ago. Some of this I find odd (like children's heads popping out of flowers and fruits) but there aren't too many of those and maybe some people like children "emerging" from fruits and flowers! All around a good selection, I would think most people would find much to their liking in these designs.
