This handsomely produced, color-illustrated volume tells the story of Steampunk, which started in the 1980s as a pop culture movement inspired by the early science fiction that came out of the Victorian era. It soon developed into an international lifestyle movement, having its own distinctive art, fashion, home decor, music, and social events. The Steampunk Gazette chronicles the origins and development of this subculture, using an illustrated newspaper-style design that reflects Steampunk's retro aesthetic. Telling Steampunk's story in words, complemented with atmospheric color photos and Victorian-style typefaces and page designs, The Steampunk Gazette highlights topics that include-- Retro Victorian clothing fashions for men and women Gentlemen's headgear Jules Verne-style submarine equipment and exploration The 30 foot tall Steampunk metal tree and tree house in Black Rock City, Nevada Steampunk home furnishings, invariably rescued from dusty attics Illustrated descriptions of Steampunk flying machines, computers, steam guns, and other pseudo-inventions Illustrated reports covering Steampunk music, dance, and theater Accounts of Steampunk festivals, clubs, and cabarets Steampunk sports and games The Steampunk Gazette will delight anyone who is interested in learning more about the origins--and current expression--of this vital and burgeoning arts movement. Color illustrations on most pages--approximately 500 in total.

~A “Coffee Table Book” has been described as a larger, hard-cover book mainly intended for display and casual reading. It is usually a light read, featuring mostly photographs and minimal text…perhaps giving an overview of a specific subject. There is no plot or story line, but rather snippets of information pertaining to the subject.
~I have several such books in my personal Steampunk library.
~This book wants to show the reader an overview of the entire world of Steampunk. It tries very hard to offer a little bit of everything to everyone…and I would have to say it succeeds very well at it. There are chapters on events from around the world…steampunk activities are slightly different in the United States to England to Europe and to Asia. There is a large section on clothing and fashions…Gentleman’s attire and Ladies accessories, hair styles, spectacles, and military uniforms. Want inspiration for remodeling your home with a Steampunk style? There is a section on homes. Steampunk Culture…books, movies, and music. There is information on a variety of activities and reports on events (conventions).
~Will this book teach you everything there is to know about Steampunk? No…but it will definitely whet your appetite! The book is worth it simply for all the photographs in it, let alone the descriptive texts accompanying the photo.
Captain America
For anyone looking for ideas for Steampunk or even just curious about it. This book is a gorgeous overview of the world of Steampunk. The pictures are so professionally done and cover every conceivable aspect. I am very glad I got this book and would definitely recommend it to everyone from the "just curious about it" type to the "I live and breath Steampunk" folks.

I got some great ideas just from flipping through the pages and I look forward to reading it in detail.
The index is extremely helpful in finding specific topics and it is laid out in easy to read, smartly organized small sections.

What are you waiting for? Buy this book! I have yet to find anything comparable overall.
A beautiful well thought out overview and introduction to SteamPunk. If you have ever wondered what attending a Steamy event was like you will know after reading this book. Excellent source information and indexes, quickly enabling you to join in the fun! Beautiful photographs of Most Amazing Things.
Probably the best of the overall intro books on steampunk. But even good for the veteran punkers. Lots of good photos, well written, and tries to make sense out of what is pretty hard to make sense of...but then that is the nature of steampunk, right? Makes it seem like the fun it is.
Fun book to thumb thru and get ideas from. Also some interesting reading!
Great book to finish off a look into the world of steam
This is a very thorough source for information about the Steampunk Genre.
Not only are all kinds of interesting contraptions and costumes featured, but they also have other chapters that focus on events that are not often written about.
I highly recommend this book to those who are curious about the Steampunk genre.
This book explains and illustrates EVERYTHING about Steampunk. I bought another and gave it to my friend , as he could not get enough of mine !
